Education is one of the most important sectors where digitalization has been greatly implemented. Most schools are transitioning to cloud-based solutions to manage their academic activities online and make it easy for their students and teachers to access the required information on demand.

Schools need to manage their students and also keep an eye on duty hours using an education ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. There are several ERP solutions available in the market, which can be used by schools to attain their school management goals. It is important for schools to choose an ERP system that is transparent, flexible, secure, and cost-effective. Schools have many internal efforts to deliver services efficiently but if your institute does not have an ERP solution you will find it difficult to communicate with your staff effectively because there is a lack of knowledge among employees about how everything works internally.

In this article, I will be looking into two such systems: on-premise and cloud-based. I will try to explain to you the difference between both so that you can easily choose the right one for your school management needs.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ON-PREMISE AND CLOUD-BASED SYSTEM

The key difference between the on-premise and the cloud ERP system is that the on-premise system is locally installed on the institute’s server and hardware, while a cloud server is also strategically located in a server data center of an internet provider.

In the cloud, users can access all the details and transactions of the system through a web browser or mobile application. On-premise systems require the installation of software in the database server and the use of specific hardware. In this case, personnel is required to install and maintain hardware, software, and database. The cloud-based system is easy to install and maintain as it doesn’t need to have any complicated architecture or complicated hardware costs.

COST-EFFECTIVENESS

The digitalization of a school system has greatly changed the way students learn and teachers teach. With the help of cloud-based software, education institutes can save time and money by reducing rental costs as well as maintenance costs. Digitalization also offers flexibility to change course options based on demand or need.

EASY SYSTEM UPGRADES

Cloud-based school management systems offer a better user experience and a better user experience for their students. Cloud-based systems ensure that the entire information is stored in one place and can be accessed from anywhere at any time.

SPEED OF DEPLOYMENT

Cloud-based ERP software provides a more secure, faster, and economical solution than on-premises ERP software. In cloud-based ERP, data security is ensured by outsourcing the entire setup process to the cloud. The intelligence of the cloud enables these platforms to analyze market data and make smart predictions while keeping the information in mind.

DATA SECURITY

When you want to invest in an ERP system, you need to choose between on-premise or cloud-based ERP systems. On-premises ERP is quite affordable and provides better security, but it takes around 12 months for being implemented in a large organization. In contrast, a cloud-based ERP solution is faster and saves a lot of time in implementing the same. Moreover, it offers better data security and safety as compared to other solutions available in the market.
